Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd left in stitches after co-star’s hilarious mishap

Ben Price, Colson Smith and Jack P. Shepherd host the On The Sofa podcast

Coronation Street’s Jack P. Shepherd couldn’t help but laugh when his friend and former co-star Colson Smith described his recent “mishap” while taking part in a BBC show. Colson departed the cobbles last month in dramatic scenes which saw the Weatherfield police officer killed by troublemaker Mick Michaelis.

Colson had portrayed Craig Tinker on the ITV soap for almost 14 years before his emotional exit. Away from the cobbles, Colson co-hosts the “On The Sofa” podcast alongside Jack (David Platt) and Ben Price (Nick Tilsley).

In the most recent episode of the podcast, titled “Colson’s Quiz Mistake”, Colson described his hilarious experience while taking part in The Weakest Link. The actor tested his general knowledge skills on the hit BBC show hosted by comedian Romesh Ranganathan.

But Colson went into more detail about one particular moment which left him red-faced. He told listeners: “There was one question where I completed disgraced myself and then my head went a little bit, so I kind of stopped listening.”

Jack asked: “Why? Did you say something a bit stupid?” Colson explained: “Yep, sometimes you get a picture round and it said ‘on your screen now Colson is a tennis player who is named after a planet.”

The David Platt actor immediately responded with “Oh Venus.” Colson added: “Obviously we all know it’s Venus Williams.” The stars were keen to find out what answer Colson gave to the question.

Ben chipped in: “Oh what did you say?” before an embarrassed Colson shared: “F*****g Jupiter.” Ben and Jack were in disbelief as they couldn’t believe Colson didn’t know the answer.

Jack was in stitches as he said: “No you didn’t, no you f*****g didn’t.” Ben and Jack both joked about the idea of Venus Williams being called “Jupiter Williams.”

Fans rushed to the comments to add a number of laughing face emojis. One fan said: “Bless him. Could only happen to Colson, not only does he confuse his words up he’s now confusing his planets up too. Oh well Colson, I’m sure you did well considering this mishap.”

Another listener wrote: “This made me laugh out loud today when i was listening love this podcast” while a third added: “Love you Colson, you make me laugh.” Another said: “Love love love these 3 brilliant.”

Jack married Hanni Treweek in a classic ceremony that took place at Manchester Cathedral last weekend, surrounded by friends, family and co-stars.

Over a year ago, Jack proposed to Hanni while on a safari in Tanzania. The couple first met in 2017 on the set of the long-running soap when Hanni was working as a scriptwriter.

He arrived in style on the day dressed in a cream tuxedo suit in a red Mustang with his son Reuben who was wearing a matching suit. Co-stars Colson and Ben appeared to be chosen as groomsmen for the big day.
