Piers Morgan’s ex-wife left ‘fighting for her life’ after freak accident months ago.

Spencer Morgan posted images of his mum in hospital

The ex-wife of Piers Morgan, Marion Shalloe, was left fighting for her life following a freak accident. After months in hospital, their son Spencer shared images and videos as his mum left the ward, as he thanked the medical staff who had cared for her.

Spencer opened up on Instagram, revealing: “Seven months ago our mum was involved in a freak accident which left her fighting for her life… We were told on more than one occasion that there was little hope if any but against all odds she hung on in there and thanks to the two heroic surgeons in the third pic and countless others at @chelwestft she left hospital today after 218 days on the ward.”

He continued to express his gratitude: “The staff labelled her a minor miracle but they are the miracle workers. My family are eternally grateful for their incredible work. Never give up.”

Spencer didn’t share any further details of the accident which led to Marion’s extended hospital stay. In the images, she could be seen in a green dress as she stood between two of her children, Spencer and Bertie, in a hospital ward, while another picture showed her smiling alongside two doctors.

The heartwarming moment Marion was applauded by nurses as she exited the ward was captured, as well as her departure from the hospital’s main entrance, crutch in hand and Spencer by her side, reports the Mirror.

The post was met with an outpouring of love and support in the comments section, with Denise Welch chiming in with a string of red heart emojis and Piers’ former Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid writing “The best news,” accompanied by a love heart emoji.

George Lineker, son of ex-Match of the Day host Gary Lineker, said: “Buzzing for you all”, while Claire Sweeney wrote: “Sending love and thoughts x” and Loose Women’s Jane Moore commented: “She’s a tough bird.”

Piers and Marion were married between 1991 and 2008, during which time they welcomed three sons – Albert, Stanley, and Spencer. Piers later tied the knot with Celia Walden, and the couple had a daughter, Elise, in 2011.

Despite their separation, Piers has always been protective of his former spouse. In a 2009 interview with the Daily Mail, he described their divorce as a “pretty horrendous experience”.

He recalled, “The day Marion and I got divorced, I said, ‘You know what? We can both go away feeling awful about this, but let’s never mention it again’.”

Piers also revealed that Marion had backed his decision to leave Good Morning Britain. Speaking on their amicable relationship, he said, “I don’t regret it because these things happen, but I’m pleased that we’ve stayed good friends, because it’s important for your kids.

“I produced three fantastic children with my ex-wife. The best advice I ever got was to speak to them every day – that’s when you need your ex to be very accommodating.

“I’ve spoken to my kids, with just a handful of exceptions, every day in the last nine years.”
