BBC The Hit List hosts Rochelle and Marvin Humes: their journey to fame and family life.

Marvin Humes and Rochelle Humes

TV presenters and singers Rochelle and Marvin Humes are back on our screens this weekend for another episode of BBC’s The Hit List. Now in its seventh series, the husband-and-wife have been presenting the music-based quiz show for years, which sees contestants battle to name as many hit songs and artists as possible in allotted time.

The play-along-at-home pop quiz has a £10,000 jackpot up for grabs and the pair have also hosted celebrity editions. This isn’t the only show the couple, who tied the knot in 2012, have worked on together, as they have also been known to co-host ITV’s This Morning.

Before their presenting days, Rochelle and Marvin both rose to fame in the music industry at a young age. Many will remember Rochelle, now 36, being a member of pop group S Club Juniors, later known as S Club 8, who became known for hits such as Automatic High and Sundown.

The band formed in 2001 as part of reality series S Club Search and went on to support band S Club 7 on tour. After the junior band split 20 years ago in 2005, Rochelle had her first stab at presenting on BBC children’s programme, Smile.

But it wasn’t long before she returned to music. Rochelle is best known for being one of five members of British girl band The Saturdays alongside members Una Healy, Mollie King, Vanessa White and fellow S Club Junior star Frankie Bridge.

Marvin also got into the music industry in the 00s, but his first experience of fame wasn’t with JLS. The 40-year-old singer was first part of band VS. The band was formed by Blue member Simon Webbe, Melody from DJ Pied Piper and the Masters of Ceremonies and singer-songwriter Ali Tennant.

The band released songs such as Love You Like Mad, Call U Sexy and Make It Hot. After they split, Marvin became one of four members of boyband JLS, alongside Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams and JB Gill.

On X Factor, the band finished in second place behind winner Alexandra Burke, but went on to top the charts with hits Beat Again, Everybody in Love, She Makes Me Wanna and more.

The band split in 2013 after five years together, but recently reunited in 2020 for a reunion tour. Between 2014 and 2016, Marvin co-hosted The Voice UK on BBC One with Emma Willis and has worked as a radio host, presenting the Monday to Thursday late night show across the Capital Network.

Before The Hit List, the couple joined This Morning in 2013 as regular stand-in presenters, but in recent years, Rochelle has guest hosted the show alongside another presenter. The couple have been together since 2010 but they actually met when Rochelle was a teenager, the ECHO previously reported.

In a 2019 interview on The Jonathan Ross show, Rochelle revealed she first met Marvin when she was 16. She said: “We actually met when I was younger, when I was probably about 16. Nothing like that.

Rochelle added: “I went to the toilet and my bag was on the chair. He took my phone out of my bag, called himself from my phone and got my number.

“It’s weird. He’s got the last laugh because I married him, but it’s weird. In a creepy, restraining order way.”

The mum admitted the couple went against her manager’s wishes and dated while their groups were rising to stardom. Rochelle and Marvin were married in 2012 after a ceremony at Blenheim Palace and are parents to daughters Alia and Valentina and son Blake.

When they’re not working on projects, the pair often give their many social media followers a glimpse into their home and family life. You can often see Rochelle and Marvin having fun with the kids in their stunning home, which they built from scratch.

The couple even have their own home interior account – Humes Home. Although it hasn’t had a post since 2023, the couple have showed their 198K followers their chic interior, which boasts monochrome decor in many rooms, teddy chairs, a brilliant playroom and much more.
