Coronation Street’s Savanna Pennington has been supported by fans as she shared some “special” snaps from the cobbles. The young star has been at the centre of a whirlwind drama on the ITV soap as she made her Weatherfield debut earlier this year with her parents Mick and Lou Michaelis.
The nightmare neighbours arrived on the cobbles for a short-term storyline and were quick to ruffle feathers among the other residents. Viewers have seen Mick kill Craig Tinker, while Lou grew closer and closer to Gary Windass before ultimately lashing out which has left him in a coma for the past two weeks.
Savanna Pennington portrays Joanie, the daughter of Mick and Lou. With her mum and dad behind bars, Sally and Tim have stepped up to take care of Joanie and her younger sister Shanice.
Joanie was placed at the heart of the drama as Monday’s broadcast brought even more tension on the cobbles. Mick Michaelis made a dramatic escape from prison and headed straight for Weatherfield High.
Meanwhile, Joanie was on a taster day at the school. The other students started to question the teenager on why both her mum and dad were in prison, bombarding her with questions about her dangerous family members. Distressed by the experience, Joanie broke down and Sally had to come and pick her up.
Mick headed for the street in search of his children. He ended up at UnderWorld, where Sally was giving Joanie a tour of the factory. However, Sally knew Mick would only have dark intentions and decided to take Joanie up to the roof with the hopes of keeping her safe.
Savanna was part of several intense scenes on the soap as her character was in danger while her own dad did everything he could to find her, harming whoever was getting in his way. When he finally reached the roof, Sally stood up to Mick and told him Joanie would be better off without him.
Coronation Street fans were quick to praise the young star after such distressing scenes. Savanna shared several behind the scenes snaps to social media ahead of the dramatic episode.
The actress wrote: “Swipe for some behind the scenes. Tonight on ITV 8pm. Watch earlier on the amazing ITVX. One of my favourite episodes yet! .. not biast.
“Thank you to all amazing cast and crew @coronationstreet for making it so much fun! Even though it may not look like I was having much fun I really was.”
Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain on the soap, sent her love to her co-star. She wrote: “You smashed it sweetheart! very talented!!”
One fan said: “Loved tonight’s episode. You were amazing.” A second wrote: “Did a brilliant job well done.” Another added: “You did so amazing Sav! So excited for tonight’s ep.”
Savanna also shared a photograph alongside her co-star Sally Dynevor. She wrote: “Wearing this special coat. Had the best time filming for upcoming scenes @coronationstreet @sallydynevor.”
The official Coronation Street Instagram page added a red love heart emoji. One fan said: “You and @sallydynevor were both great in today’s episode. Fab Episode.”
