Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters founded Matriarch Productions, which co-produced Adolescence

Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters have issued a proud announcement after their hit Netflix show, Adolescence, received 13 Emmy nominations. The four-part drama premiered this year to huge acclaim and has since broken a number of records as the streaming platform’s most watched limited series on the streaming platform.

The show tackles the important issue of knife crime as Stephen’s character, Eddie Miller, has his world turned upside down when his son, Jamie, is accused of murder. The 51-year-old from Kirkby co-created the show with Jack Thorne and said he was inspired by real-life tragic events.

The show was produced by Matriarch Productions, which Stephen set up with Hannah. The show, which was filmed in one take, was also produced by Warp Films and Plan B Entertainment.

The series has been a huge success since it aired and won universal critical acclaim. It has now gained award recognition, as it was nominated for a staggering 13 Emmys. Stephen and Hannah shared a picture of the cast and crew as they reflected on the incredible achievement.

Their message said: “13 Emmy Nominations…13!!!! for our Adolescence family…. So proud of each and every single person that was part of the journey. Thank you; we love and appreciate you all. Hannah & Stephen.”

Stephen has been nominated for Lead Actor in a limited series for his incredible performance. The recognition is the first time the Scouser has been nominated for an Emmy in his glittering career.

His onscreen son was played by Owen Cooper, who is up for the Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series award. Ashley Walters is also nominated in this category.

Phil Barantini was thrilled after he was nominated for Directing for a Limited Series. He said: “I’m lost for words…Unbelievable. To the whole Adolescence family – we’re Emmy-nominated x13!”
