Abbey Clancy was left “irritated” by husband Peter Crouch after he made a comment on their date night. The model and former Liverpool footballer have been married since 2011.
Peter however admits Abbey often complains about a lack of “spontaneity” in their marriage. It prompted the former England international to plan a surprise date night.
However, Abbey revealed she was left bemused by a comment Peter made about her choice of outfit. She made the revelation after a listener on their The Therapy Crouch podcast said she “doesn’t have time” to glam up after having a baby.
Abbey expressed her empathy with the listener, saying: “When you’ve had a baby your body’s not the same, it takes time to feel normal, I feel you lose a bit of your identity and think you should be dressing a bit more mumsie when you shouldn’t.”
The listener had mentioned feeling like they’d “lost themselves” after becoming a parent, to which Abbey replied: “I feel the same, it’s like when you were taking me on a surprise date the other day, and Pete was like, ‘I envision you in something floral’.

“I was like, ‘What the f***, I literally wear black…’ A short floral, flowy dress. I don’t wear dresses, do I?”.
Pete explained that he was “thinking of” Abbey with his suggestion because he feared she would be “too hot” in something black. He added: “It was really hot and I didn’t want you to be too hot.
“I wanted something thin and flowy. I was thinking of you, I didn’t want you to wear jeans, even shorts….I thought you’d want something loose, flowy.”
However, Abbey wasn’t impressed and admitted that it “irritated the hell” out of her. The former Liverpool forward Pete commented on her reaction: “I’ve never seen anyone get so angry about a surprise I was trying to do for her.”

The couple’s beginnings trace back to Liverpool in 2005, and Abbey shared on Good Morning Britain how their first encounter went: “When we first met, he begged me for my number and then I went to the loo or the bar, and when I came back, he was talking to another girl. I was like, ‘How dare you?'”.
Peter defended himself, insisting he was “just talking” to the other woman, but Abbey wasn’t having any of it and demanded her number back. Peter recounted: “I said, ‘You can’t give someone your number and then take it back’.”
Despite this rocky start, Peter and Abbey’s romance flourished, leading them to wed on June 30, 2011. OK! magazine reports that they now reside in a “magical” Surrey mansion, boasting a cinema room and expansive garden.
Their luxurious home is often showcased on Abbey’s social media, where followers have caught sight of Peter at his grand wooden desk with a football trophy, as well as the family enjoying their outdoor swimming pool and children’s play area.
It’s reported that they relocated to the breathtaking property in 2016.
