Model and TV personality Penny Lancaster admitted she “couldn’t possibly” as Ben Shephard agreed “Rod would not have been happy” with an answer on ITV’s Tipping Point. On Saturday’s instalment of the popular game show, Ben was joined by three fresh hopeful contestants aiming to bag some serious cash.
While her husband was on our screens last weekend as he headlined the pyramid stage at Glastonbury, Penny Lancaster appeared on the hit game show in a re-aired episode. Also among those hoping to walk away with the grand cash prize for charity was mathematics teacher Bobby Seagull and television personality Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
As the game got underway, Ben asked the famous faces one question which Penny had hoped she’d got in the bag. He said: “In May 2022, which Glasgow based football club won their first Scottish cup title?”
Penny was the first to buzz in, responding “I’ve got to say Celtic.” But Ben was quick to admit the answer was incorrect, saying: “It’s not Celtic it’s the other one, it’s Rangers.”
Penny married music legend Sir Rod Stewart back in 2007 and together have two children. Many will know Rod is a huge Celtic fan – and while on Tipping Point, Penny admitted she “couldn’t possibly” have named any other Glasgow football club.
Host Ben replied: “You couldn’t – Rod would not have been happy.” Music fans from across the world were thrilled to see Sir Rod perform at Glastonbury last weekend, 23 years after his last headline slot.
The 80-year-old played the legends slot at the Pyramid Stage for the last day of the Worthy Farm festival on Sunday, June 29. He was joined on stage by several back-up singers and a band as he entertained the crowd with some of his classic hits.
And while on stage, he also showed his love for Celtic. The Glastonbury set began with Sir Rod coming onto stage to Scotland the Brave.
Fans will also have spotted his band’s drum kit displaying the Parkhead club crest. While on stage, the singer also wore a green shirt emblazoned with “Celtic” during the finale and ended the show with a rendition of Sailing, as his band took a unified bow dressed in Celtic strips.
Sir Rod’s love for Celtic also extends to their incredible family home – a Grade II-listed mansion on the Hertfordshire and Essex border, near Sawbridgeworth village. Inside their home the gym. Decorated with scarves and framed shirts on the walls, Sir Rod previously showed fans his impressive workout space on Instagram.
