A Disney+ series will showcase Wayne and Coleen Rooney like we’ve never seen them before.

Coleen and Wayne Rooney

A new series focussed on the Rooney family has been announced by major streaming platform Disney+. The unscripted original series is one of three new ones that has been announced recently. Others include the return of Blind Date and Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea.

The show that will follow the lives of Wayne and Coleen Rooney currently has a working title of “The Rooneys” and will be produced by Lorton Entertainment and Blast Films. Disney says the observational doc-series will feature Coleen and Wayne Rooney like “we’ve never seen them before”, along with their family and friends.

The series will have ten parts and follow Coleen as she ventures into new entrepreneurial endeavours, while Wayne swaps training for the school run. The Disney+ exclusive series will offer unprecedented access that sees the family navigating the highs and lows of everyday family life.

The series was commissioned by Sean Doyle, executive director of Unscripted for Disney+ and is executive produced by Jon Swain, Commissioning Executive, Unscripted for Disney+.

Mr Doyle added: “We’ve seen great success over the past couple of years with our Disney+ Original unscripted series such as “Finding Michael”, “Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story”, “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story” and more recently, “Flintoff”.

“Our distinctive offering of combining the most talked-about household names and their incredible life experiences has hit the right note with our audiences who are looking for authentic and captivating real-life stories. “

Coleen and Wayne on holiday with their children

Coleen spoke to the ECHO at the launch of her new product in Liverpool ONE earlier this year and explained the decision to put herself back in the spotlight felt like a natural progression.

She said: “I had a lot of things going on in my life and my kids were only small. Now they are all getting that little bit older and I am ready to get back out there, do some work and media, which I’ve always enjoyed. My family always comes first and that was my main priority.”

Coleen’s latest venture with Applied Nutrition came off the back of her incredible stint on I’m A Celebrity when she finished in second place behind McFly’s Danny Jones. The 38-year-old previously admitted she was worried about whether people would be “bored” of her during her time on the popular ITV show.

Talking about her family in January, she added: “This is my main priority at the minute. We’ve just got Christmas out of the way and I’m hoping this is a huge success and everyone loves it as much as I do. And then we’ve got a few more things in the pipeline, but I’m not revealing anything yet.”

Coleen and Wayne Rooney have four sons together, Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass. Coleen and Wayne got married in 2008 in a ceremony in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy. They were both 22 at the time after being engaged from the ages of 17 and 18.
