Luis Diaz and his long term partner, Gera Ponce, have tied the knot in a beautiful wedding ceremony. The Liverpool FC left winger shared a series of videos and photos online from “the biggest day of our lives”.
Luis and Gera began dating back in 2016 when they were both teenagers. After a decade together, Luis proposed in a romantic ceremony in Parroquia Inmaculada Concepción, Columbia, complete with candles, roses and fireworks.
The couple have finally said their vows in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Sharing clips and photos on Instagram, Luis said: “On the biggest day of our lives, shared with family and friends, I pronounce myself Mr & Mrs Diaz.”
The footballer shared him and his wife walking down the aisle, surrounded by white flowers and candles, with music decorating the background.
Gera wore a gorgeous and traditional white wedding dress while Luis opted for a fitted black suit with white lapel flower to match his wife’s bouquet.
A second image showed the couple embracing each other while sparks filled the forefront and the room looked on at their ceremony. The caption read: “My love, forever and ever.”
The final photo from the evening was of Luis and his friends smiling for the camera during the reception. The caption said: “Slit and boots.”
Little is known about how the couple first fell into each other’s arms but they’ve been inspirable ever since. They share two children together, Roma, 1, and Charlotte, 2.
Earlier in the week, the couple shared the news Roma had been baptized. In an Instagram post, Diaz published a series of pictures from the christening. In the caption, he said: “May God bless you always my princess.”
There have been various reports linking the 28-year-old with a move away from Anfield, with Barcelona in La Liga and Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League mentioned as potential destinations.
Amid the speculation, Gera posted a lengthy message on social media to Liverpool supporters. After the season finished, Gera said: “To the incredible Liverpool fans.
“From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club. We knew the slogan was ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support each other at every moment and show such unconditional love… confirmed to us that here you never walk alone.
“This fan doesn’t just support, it feels. And what you have made my boyfriend and our entire family feel is something we carry in our souls.
“Thank you for so much love, for so much dedication and for making us feel at home. Being a part of this fan is a privilege. There’s no doubt: they’re the best in the world. This is a real bond, deep and strong, that reaffirms that we’ll never walk alone.”
