Peter Andre has addressed his age gap relationship with wife Emily MacDonagh, who is 16 years his junior. The couple first met when the latter was 20 and Peter 36, but didn’t begin dating for two years.
Writing in his weekly New! Magazine column, the Mysterious Girl singer said that the dynamic ‘works’ for them and quipped that age is just a number, but did recall one incident where the gap was more prominent.
In the column, Peter also shared how his daughter Princess is doing since she passed her driving test and sent his well wishes to Jessie J, who announced she is suffering with breast cancer last week.

Age Is Just A Number
Actor Stephen Fry has talked about the 30-year age gap in his relationship with his partner, Elliott Spencer. It all depends on the relationship, how the partners are with each other and how they view things, I think. There’s a 16-year gap between me and Emily, and it really works for us. There’s one thing we do laugh about, though… We were at the Pride of Britain awards one year and Jon Bon Jovi came over to chat. I’ve met him many times over the years and he’s a lovely person.
He introduced himself to Emily and after he walked away, she turned to me and said, “Who was that?” I was like, “Are you serious? It’s Bon Jovi.” In the most confused but innocent voice, she said, “What’s a Bon Jovi?” We laughed about that a lot afterwards! It’s in those moments we may realise the age gap –usually with music and films – but in general, we love the same things. I think it’s what works for you in a relationship. Who are we to judge?

It’s Good To Talk
It’s so brave of Jessie J to talk about her early breast cancer and surgery. She’s only 37 – it’s such a young age and she’s been through a lot already. We all have to be vigilant because, yes, we’re in a time where medicine is so much better but, tragically, cancer is still widespread. Jessie has a huge following, so her raising awareness about cancer is amazing. I wish her the best and hope she gets the all-clear.

On The Road
Princess is loving her new car. She’s obsessed with it and even offers to go and pick up the kids from school sometimes. She’s a very good driver and has taken Emily and I for a few spins. She also says, “I’ll go to the shops for you,” which is great! It scares me that she’ll be 18 before I know it, and my parental rights will change. We’ll always have rules in the house, and she knows that. But there are things she’ll be allowed to do without having to ask me, and that’s scary for a parent. But I love who she’s become. She’s such a wonderful young woman.

Dress Code
I read that Love Islander Georgia Steel got a bit of backlash for wearing a pale dress to Dani Dyer ’s wedding to footballer Jarrod Bowen. All I can say is, as a groom, I don’t think I’d even notice if a guest was wearing white or cream. We only have eyes for the bride! It might be frustrating for a bride, and obviously I can’t know what that would feel like, but maybe the rules aren’t as strict any more. It all comes down to personal preference, I suppose.
More Music
I’m in the studio a lot this week, finally working on my upcoming album. It’s going great, but it’s an album with a twist. There are also some big announcements coming up over the next few months, not just music-wise but something very special coming to your screens, too. So watch this space, people…
