“Emmerdale star Danny Miller holds back tears as he reveals: ‘I’ve lost my dad'”

Emmerdale’s Danny Miller Fights Back Tears Discussing Father’s Dementia Battle on Loose Women

Danny Miller and his dad Vince

Emmerdale star Danny Miller was visibly emotional as he opened up about his father’s battle with dementia during an appearance on Loose Women. Known for his role as Aaron Dingle, Danny appeared on the ITV talk show to tease his character’s upcoming wedding storyline, hinting at surprises for fans.

But the mood shifted when the conversation turned from Emmerdale to Danny’s personal life. The soon-to-be father of three became emotional as he shared the impact of his dad’s condition.

Responding to host Denise Welch, Danny said:

“I’m hoping he’s watching in his care home back in Manchester, because I did tell the amazing care staff to pop it on so he could have a little 15 minutes of fame — something he hasn’t had for a while.”

Danny’s father, Vince, now 90, was once hailed as the “king of comperes,” with a showbiz career spanning 65 years before retiring in 2017.

Danny held back tears during the emotional segment

The I’m A Celebrity winner continued:

“My dad is the reason I’m in this business. The truth is, I’ve lost my dad — and that’s hard for me to cope with because I really, really miss him.

I miss picking up the phone to him. It’s just not possible anymore.

Sometimes when we visit him in the care home, we get a good visit — other times, not so much.”

Danny shared that he has been documenting his journey on Instagram, explaining:

“I’ve started to log it in an Instagram journal because I know a lot of people — including friends in America — are going through the same thing with their dads.

It pains me that I can’t call my dad anymore. I just want people out there, whether you’re experiencing dementia directly or caring for someone who is, to know you’re not alone. It’s a horrible, horrible terminal illness.”

He closed the segment with a heartfelt message:

“I love my dad so much. He’s the reason I’m sitting here today.

I love you, Dad — if you’re watching, keep smiling.”

Danny has frequently used social media to raise awareness of dementia and share the emotional toll it has taken on his family. Last September, he marked his dad’s milestone 90th birthday by posting a touching video of Vince singing My Way to a crowd of delighted guests.

“Dad, you certainly did it your way. Happy 90th, Pal. One to treasure… and still remembers every word,” Danny captioned the clip.

The actor has always praised his father as “the best in the business,” and the admiration is mutual. Vince once proudly said:

“He’s doing so very well — and he’s done it all himself. Now he’s up there. I’m so proud.”
