Former EastEnders star Louisa Lytton in Liverpool

EastEnders star Louisa Lytton has enjoyed her time in Liverpool as she tours the production of ‘The Girl on the Train’. The stage production has been adapted from Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel.

Although she is best known for her role as Ruby Allen on BBC’s EastEnders, Louisa had starred in many other roles including Murdoch Mysteries for Amazon Prime and Edge of Heaven for ITV. The actress is not a stranger to being on stage in front of audiences having performed in productions of The Importance of Beings Earnest, Grease and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The latest location has seen Louisa perform at Liverpool’s Playhouse Theatre. She will appear at the Liverpool Playhouse again this evening, May 17. The BBC star is playing the role of Rachel Watson.

The character of Rachel Watson longs for a different life. Her only escape is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day, happy and in love. When Rachel learns that the woman she’s been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself a witness and even a suspect in a thrilling mystery.

Louisa has taken to Instagram to express her love for Liverpool. Walking along the famous Albert Dock yesterday, she wrote “Liverpool I’m obsessed” as she spent time in the sunshine drinking an iced coffee.

Showing her love for the city further, Louisa wrote: “And the nail shop has live music. Liverpudlians know how to live. I am moving, sorry mum.”

The former EastEnders actress was born in Camden, London, and attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone. Louisa recently left the BBC soap with her character saying goodbye to Albert Square due to a combination of factors revolving around the fire at Martin’s stall and the fallout with Stacey Slater.

When she announced her new role in The Girl on the Train adaptation, fans and friends congratulated her and have praised her ever since. One fan wrote: “We watched the show last night at the Playhouse Liverpool and it was absolutely brilliant! Great cast & you were amazing in it as Rachel! Well done.”

A second fan wrote: “Amazing play fantastic acting great cast well done,” alongside a clapping hand emoji. A third person commented “@louisanastrilytton just got back from Woking …wow you were exceptional, absolutely amazing . Well done and thank you for giving me a brilliant evening.”

Off-screen, Louisa has been married to her husband Ben Bhanvra since 2022. The couple met in 2017 and welcomed their daughter Aura in 2021. She previously spoke on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast about having children.

She said: “I would have found a way to have a child on my own. Because having the child for me was like the ultimate in life. That’s not for everyone, but it just always was with me.”
