Michelle Hunziker is a familiar face on Italian TV screens

The Eurovision grand final has finally arrived and 26 acts are gearing up to take to the stage on Saturday. Switzerland hosts the competition following the victory of Swiss singer Nemo in Sweden last year. The theme for the 2025 edition is “Welcome Home”, as the first contest was held in Switzerland in 1956. The evening will be hosted by Hazel Brugger, Michelle Hunziker and Sandra Studer.

According to Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR, the choice of hosts for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 symbolises the values that define Switzerland: openness, diversity, multilingualism and a sense of togetherness.

Two more hosts, Mélanie Freymond and Sven Epiney, will be presenting the pre-show party and public viewing in the Arena plus, the repurposed St. Jakob-Park football stadium.

You can also listen on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, hosted by Scott Mills and Rylan Clark. Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor will present the UK’s jury result live on the night, after actor Ncuti Gatwa pulled out from the role.

Who is Michelle Hunziker?

Michelle Hunziker is a well-known face on international TV screens for her work on numerous German and Italian programmes. The 47-year-old TV personality was born in Lugano which is an Italian-speaking part of Switzerland.

She grew up in Ostermundigen, a suburb of Bern in the German-speaking region before moving to Milan with her mum. At aged 17, Michelle became a fashion model and posed for several huge names including Armani and Rocco Barocco.

Michelle was engaged to Italian pop singer and writer Eros Ramazzotti and the couple welcomed baby Aurora into the world in 1996. During Michelle’s time modelling for the big brands in the 1990s, she was discovered by an Italian TV producer and landed a number of presenting jobs.

These include Italian prime time comedy show Paperissima Sprint and afternoon show Colpo di Fulmine. In 1998 she was offered her first acting role in the TV series ‘La Forza dell’Amore.’ In 2001, she received the Italian TV Oscar in the category Discovery of the Year.

She separated from Eros Ramazzotti in 2002 and announced her engagement to Tomaso Trussardi in 2013. They have two daughters Sole Trussardi and Celeste Trussardi.

Michelle and Tomaso split in 2022. Michelle is currently single, but it is clear she enjoys being a mum to her three children. In her Instagram bio, ahead of her own professional endeavours, Michelle labels herself as a “mother of 3”.

Fans may recognise Michelle’s daughter Aurora who has followed in her mum’s footsteps as a model and influencer. The 28-year-old became a presenter on the Italian version on The X Factor.

She is also racking up several film credits as an actress including in the 2015 movie ‘Social Generation’. Aurora regularly updates fans on aspects of her life to her 2.6 million followers on Instagram.
