Coronation Street viewers are speculating that a soap legend could be making a surprise comeback in a twist involving Betsy Swain.
The mischief-maker, portrayed by Sydney Martin, made her debut on the cobbles last year as DS Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) daughter. It didn’t take long for Betsy to become embroiled in several major plotlines on the soap.
However, in Wednesday’s episode (April 30), the truth about Betsy came tumbling out after Carla spotted her using her arm and exposed her in front of her mum.
Corrie enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation that a familiar face might be making a return to the cobbles to deal with Betsy’s recent antics. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan group, one fan expressed their frustration: “Betsy is really annoying me! Becoming a right madam, hopefully someone puts her right soon.”
Another fan is hoping for Carla’s former stepson Simon Barlow (played by Alex Bain) to make a comeback, saying: “Bring Simon back! He would have Carla’s back.”
A third chimed in with anticipation: “Yesss, I’ve been thinking for a while he’s probably due a return.” While another agreed: “She definitely needs straightening out and maybe he would be the best option for her.”
Simon, the son of Peter Barlow (portrayed by Chris Gascoyne), was last spotted on the street in 2024 when he chose to leave and join his father working on a yacht after Peter’s departure on Boxing Day.
