Inside Coronation Street star Amy Robbins’ famous family – from Paul McCartney links to cousin Emily Atack.

Coronation Street fans have recently seen the return of Amy Robbins as the notorious Christina Boyd who’s already causing quite a stir on the Cobbles.

Amy has intermittently portrayed Christina since 2023. In an exciting twist earlier this year, it was announced that Charlotte Jordan, known for playing Christina’s daughter Daisy Midgeley, would be bidding farewell to the street after four eventful years.

Marking a first, the duo are now teaming up on screen, and poor Jenny Connor (played by Sally Ann Matthews) seems to be bearing the brunt of their mischief.

Amy’s comeback as the “hot mess” Christina is set to give her on-screen daughter an unforgettable departure from the soap, reports Plymouth Live.

Beyond her work on ITV’s beloved show, Amy Robbins is a distinguished actress with decades of experience under her belt. A RADA-trained talent, Amy boasts an impressive career that exceeds forty years, featuring proud stints on shows like Where the Heart Is, Heartbeat, Hollyoaks, EastEnders, Holby City, Doctors, and even Emmerdale.

At 54 years of age, she’s also renowned for her portrayal of Dr Jill Weatherill in The Royal from 2003 to 2011.

Amy’s brother Ted has had his share of Corrie limelight, albeit in three minor roles; however, he’s additionally well-known for his work in films such as Calendar Girls, The Slammer, Diddy Movies, and Benidorm among others.

On a January appearance on Lorraine, Amy reminisced with Ted about the moment she was cast as Christina on Coronation Street.

She shared a touching moment with Lorraine, recalling the advice she received: “When I rang him to tell him I got the part, because we often chatted about it, his advice was ‘don’t underestimate how you’re going to feel standing in the pub, in the Rover’s. Cause it’s as overwhelming as you think it’s going to be.”

Amy hails from a family brimming with talent. Her sister Kate Robbins is not only a renowned singer and actress but also soared to number two on the UK charts in the 80s with her hit ‘More Than in Love’.

Kate has graced the screen in iconic shows such as Spitting Image, After Life, and EastEnders, while her daughter, Emily Atack, made waves on I’m A Celebrity back in 2018.

The acting gene runs deep, with their sister Emma also pursuing the craft, and another sibling, Jane, showcasing her versatility as an artist, actress, and musician, even performing as part of the UK’s Eurovision group Prima Donna in 1980.

But perhaps the most star-studded connection is Amy’s first cousin once removed, The Beatles legend Paul McCartney. As per the Daily Star, Paul is Amy’s mum’s cousin, and she’s spoken fondly of him, saying: “He’s everything you would hope him to be, genuinely lovely.”

During her chat on Lorraine, Amy referred to acting as ‘the family business’, explaining: “We didn’t really get much of a choice when it came to it.”

She added, “Lots of families have a business that you all go into and it does seem to be the one that we’ve all done.

“It’s what our parents did, my dad was in variety, it’s what we all grew up with. It’s what we all knew best. And now it’s carrying on to the generation beneath us. A lot of my nephews and most of my nieces. My own daughters are show signs of that kind of thing.”
