Jamie Carragher has issued a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Nicola, after she completed the Boston marathon. Nicola, who has been married to the Liverpool FC legend since 2005, is currently making her way through the World Marathon majors.
She completed her fifth marathon in seven months on Sunday by completing the ultimate running challenge in the United States over the weekend. The Sky Sports pundit has taken to Instagram today to heap praise on his wife.
He said: “The @bostonmarathon done for @niccarra_runs which is now 5/6 @wmmajors with @londonmarathon on Sunday to come. I still can’t believe what you’ve already done in these past seven months & what you will have accomplished on Sunday.
“You’re making marathons look like cross country runs for the school nearly 40yrs ago. Very proud of you.” The World Marathon majors include the big races in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York City.
Sydney has recently been added to the list and Nicola will aim to complete the run in Australia in August. It was a big weekend for the Carraghers as James Carragher scored the winning goal for Wigan Athletic in their 1 – 0 victory over Rotherham.
Jamie Carragher took to Instagram to react to a proud weekend for his family. The 47-year-old said: “What a day for the Carras yesterday. @_23jc_ scores the winner for @laticsofficial & @nicolacarragher runs Boston Marathon. Very proud of you both.”
Nicola took to her own social media platform and said she was happier with her son’s goal more than she was with finishing her run. She said: “I think I was more buzzing for this than finishing the Boston Marathon get in son.”
Celebrity fans and followers took to the comments of Jamie’s Instagram post to congratulate Nicola on her efforts so far. John Bishop said: “Well done Nicola – incredible achievement.”
Jamie’s fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville added: “Well done Nicola! Incredible achievement!” Boxer Stephen Smith commented: “Unbelievable.”
Other followers took to the comments to praise Nicola’s inspirational efforts so far. Kate commented: “Amazing – what an inspiration xx Congratulations.”
Kieron posted: “Amazing achievement Nic.” Alison posted: “I’m in awe of what she’s doing. Well done.” Vicki added: “So inspirational! Well done @niccarra_runs you are smashing it!!”
