Jake O’Brien’s girlfriend Sophie Lawlor was flooded with support after issuing an update on her pregnancy. O’Brien has become a regular starter in Everton’s side since David Moyes returned to the Goodison Park dugout in January.
The Cork-born defender had previously found game time hard to come by under previous boss Sean Dyche after joining the Toffees last summer from Italian side Napoli.
O’Brien has mainly been used as a full-back since the turn of the year. He is likely to play there again when the Blues travel to Chelsea for their next Premier League match.
Away from the pitch, O’Brien’s partner is make-up and fashion influencer Sophie, who is also from Cork. The couple have been together for more than four years and own two male dogs.
Sophie’s videos about fashion, shopping and beauty advice have garnered over 1m likes in total on TikTok. Last February, she announced she was pregnant with the coupe’s first child.
Sophie shared a video on her and O’Brien’s Instagram page which showed her finding out she was pregnant after a positive test.
In her latest Instagram post, Sophie shared a series of pictures on what she’s been up to recently. This included images of her baby bump and her family going on the pitch at Goodison after an Everton match. Sophie also shared an image of her from the Everton away end at Anfield during the Merseyside Derby earlier this month.
In the caption, Sophie said: “Baby boy is waving to say hi. Growing you is the most amazing feeling.” The post was liked by O’Brien and over 1,000 others. Many left their support to Sophie and her partner in the comments section.
One said: “So beautiful, you will be amazing parents.” Another added: “Two, soon to become three…both you and Jake look so happy and no doubt will become the perfect, doting parents. Best wishes to you both and the little ‘un of course.” A third person said: “Glowing.”
Sophie already has a white teddy bear ready for her son. The bear has “born an Everton fan” written on its chest. She announced her pregnancy earlier this year with a video on her page.
Sophie showed her positive test to O’Brien and the couple quickly embraced with a loving hug. In the accompanying caption, she said: “Time for our next chapter. Never felt love like this.”
Sophie also shared a picture of her and O’Brien with her scan on her Instagram story, adding: “Upgrading from pawrents to parents.” She was flooded with support after the announcement.
A few days later, she showed her and O’Brien holding a balloon with ‘boy or girl?’ written on it. After O’Brien popped the balloon, blue confetti flew out of it, meaning she is pregnant with a boy.
The couple then hugged each other as their two dogs ran around excitedly. In the caption of the video, Sophie tagged her partner and added: “We are so excited.”
