The One Show became an emotional watch as the celebrity guests shared heartwarming stories about their dads earlier in the show.
Tuesday’s episode saw hosts Clara Amfo and Alex Jones welcome a stellar line-up, including superstar Craig David, funnyman Josh Widdicombe, and acclaimed wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan to the famous green couch.
The conversation quickly delved deep into personal territory after a poignant video about young boys growing up without father figures or male role models.
Opening up, Gordon Buchanan spoke candidly: “I grew up with an absent dad, so you kind of don’t know what you’re missing until you make quite a lot of mistakes. Having a son definitely makes a difference, teaching him all the things that I wish someone had maybe taught me.”

Craig David chimed in with his own reflections, appreciative of his father’s efforts post-divorce: “I was very grateful that even though my mum and dad had split up when I was around eight, he was very active in my life,” reports the Mirror.
Emphasising the importance of those weekend meet-ups, he said with fondness, “He became like a strong role model. I remember making speakers with him in the back garden and things like that, really land! Picking you up every weekend to make sure you’ve got a father figure with you.”
Craig concluded with heartfelt praise: “So I was really grateful that, regardless of the relationship, the father still shows up for the children. So that was a really powerful piece there,” clearly moved by the segment’s message.

The discussion also touched on the topic of absent male role models in young boys’ lives, echoing the themes explored in the Netflix hit drama Adolescence. The four-part series tells the story of 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering a female classmate.
As the fictional drama unfolds, Jamie’s parents are forced to confront their darkest fears while grappling with their own responsibilities in his upbringing.
