Jude Riordan’s Transformation Stuns Fans as He Addresses ‘Corrie’ Absence

Coronation Street’s Jude Riordan has wowed fans as he showed off his new look. The soap star is renowned for his role as Sam Blakeman in the ITV show.

The 13-year-old first arrived on Weatherfield in 2020 and become a popular character on the show. Jude, who hails from St Helens, has largely been absent from screen over recent weeks as his character enjoys a more settled period in Weatherfield.

The Merseyside actor’s parents regularly share updates from his life in showbiz on Instagram. They have taken to the social media platform today to reveal Jude has a new haircut.

However, they issued a later update to respond to fan comments after they commented on how much the rising star has grown up over recent weeks. The shared the same post with a new caption as they also addressed Sam’s absence on screen.

The caption said: “Lots of messages saying how old I look and how old am I now. I know Sam has been missing offscreen for about 34 years but I will be 14 in a few weeks.”

Last year marked an emotional end to 2025 for the Platt family as he had to wave goodbye to onscreen nan, Gail Platt, on Christmas Day.

The difficult time continued as his dad, Nick Tilsley, split with partner, Leanne Battersby, after his affair with Toyah Battersby. Sam was on hand to witness the drama between the three and Leanne spent earlier storylines in 2025 trying to win back his trust.

However, Sam’s character has since taken more of a backseat as other storylines have came to the fore on Coronation Street.

The Websters have taken centre stage over recent weeks as Carl Webster has arrived in Weatherfield. The character’s arrival comes as Debbie Webster has been diagnosed with dementia.

Jude will be looking forward to return back to the screen soon as the rising star from Merseyside loves working on Corrie.

His parents shared a snap of the Corrie cast earlier this month alongside the caption: “CORRIE CAST PHOTO. I am there, with the Platt fambo, zoom in

“It was like Year 6 picture day. What a team.” Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV. Episodes are released on ITVX at 7am.
