Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh Shares Relationship Update After Co-Star Breakup, Says ‘No More’

Kym Marsh has issued a relationship update as she has vowed to never marry again. The former Coronation Street star is currently starring in Abigail’s Party at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.

The play, which is penned by Mike Leigh, is set in the 1970s and Kym has explained the cultural differences between now and the present day in a new interview with The Independent. She said: “You were expected to get married back then. It was almost a little girl’s dream.

“But not for Kym Marsh. I’ve been married three times, and three times it’s not gone well – so no more for me. Three strikes and I’m out.”

Kym was married to EastEnders actor Jack Ryder from 2002 to 2009 and Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas from 2012 to 2014. She married third husband Scott Ratcliff in 2019 after four years of dating but the couple split up 19 months after tying the knot.

Kym has recently from her boyfriend Samuel Thomas, who she starred alongside in a tour of 101 Dalmatians: The Musical, which came to the Liverpool Empire last year.

She addressed her approach to relationships in the interview as she explained her career decisions are not based on her love life or her age.

She said: “Sorry you think that the decisions in my life are based on how old I am and who I’ve broken up with. I mean, even when I’ve been doing interviews for jobs, people have asked me about my love life.

“I actually said to someone once, ‘tell me about your love life’. It’s just nonsense.” Kym, who was born in Whiston, spoke to the ECHO earlier this year as she participated in the Glow Green Night Walk in aid of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Kym’s dad, David Marsh, died aged 78 after a long battle with prostate cancer last year. Kym wanted to honour her dad’s final wishes to continue to support Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as the facility provided the family with much needed support throughout his diagnosis.

Kym took three months off work while she cared for her dad and then grieved his loss. Her stint in Abigail’s Party marked her return to acting after his loss.

The soap star admitted returning to work after her dad’s death was difficult, but she knew this would be exactly what he wanted as she vowed to continue to honour him in every way she can.

She told the ECHO: “He would always always tell me how proud he was so the last thing I was going to be able to do was to not work

“He’d have had me back to work the same week. He loved watching me on Morning Live and if there was a reason I couldn’t be on it that day, he’d be fuming.

“My dad would have been the first person saying, ‘Come on, What are you doing next? Get back on that stage.’ He made it known that he was always very proud of me and I hope that I continue to make him proud.”
