The Princess of Wales has shared a video message to mark Mother’s Day. Kensington Palace released a message from the Princess of Wales, which sees her speak on her family’s special connection to nature
In the moving clip, Kate said nature has been her family’s “sanctuary” over the past year. The princess announced she had been diagnosed with cancer in March last year, she posted the message alongside a short video featuring shots of her and William in Norfolk last summer.
The footage uploaded today included scenes of some of the UK’s most striking natural environments, from woodlands and fields to beaches and the ocean. In the message, signed ‘C’, Kate wrote: “Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary.
“This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life.”
A number of comments were left under the powerful video. One response was “Beautiful message and video” and another said “What a beautiful film – have a wonderful Mother’s Day your Highness.” Others added “So beautiful, love this. Happy Mother’s Day” and “that’s beautiful. Love you Catherine.”
The princess underwent a course of preventative chemotherapy after her cancer diagnosis and announced in September that she had completed her treatment. She made a surprise visit in January to the Royal Marsden Hospital where she was treated and revealed she was in remission.
William and Kate share three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. In January, the mum-of-three shared an update on her health journey after she announced she was in ‘remission’ and remains focused on recovery.
In a message shared to the official Prince and Princess of Wales X account, formerly known as Twitter. Kate said: “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything.
She continued: “We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional. In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting ground-breaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.”
