Peter Kay threatened to kick audience members out of his latest show on his comedy tour. The comedian performed at London’s O2 Arena on Thursday evening, March 20.
The incident comes after Peter stopped his act to have two people in the crowd removed from the AO arena in Manchester last month. The first was a man reportedly yelling ‘garlic bread’ repeatedly, with the second shouting ‘we love you, Peter’.
After calling out ‘we love you Peter’ in the second half of the show, the woman was removed from the show, Myar claimed that despite sitting near the earlier heckler, she was unrelated to him. As she was led out, Peter said from the stage, “go on, off you go, Lisa Riley.”
Talking to the fans during his show in London last night, Peter halted his performance to call out a noisy fan. A video shared from the arena, shows him asking: “Is it them in that box? Is that them? Who is it? Eh, it’s you monkeys there. Now then, what are we going to do with you now? These people in this area now, do any of you look like Lisa Riley? No, alright,”
The comedian asked the general audience if the individuals in the box were annoying them. He asked: “So what are we going to do about this. I’m not getting involved this time. Please, the lovely people in that area, would you like to raise your hands if those gentlemen are p****ing you off.”
He added: “I’m going to leave it to the security team to go up there and sort it out”, before continuing “Nah, you can carry on, but if you’re rambunctious, you’re going home early… you naughty boys.”
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, an audience member told: “Peter waded in as the crowd was audibly kicking off due to some disagreement in the crowd. He poked fun at the idea of kicking them out, then dished out the issue to his security.
“But he did reference it again twice in the show as they kept shouting, comparing it to a ‘boot sale’ at one point. It seemed like the audience in the area wanted him to kick the person out due to all the drama.”
When the earlier incident of him having people thrown out of his show in Manchester became a huge talking point. Peter released a statement, saying: “I didn’t realise it was an insult. She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn’t realise that was an insult. There comes a point when dealing with repeated hecklers simply isn’t enough.
“It’s not something you ever want to do but it becomes a point when it’s no longer fair to everyone around.” The Emmerdale actor, Lisa Riley also weighed in on the situation.
On her Instagram Story, the soap star posted: “Please draw a line under this now, I am not offended, never was offended. I love Peter Kay to pieces. Laughter is my favourite medicine.”
At the time fans took to X to share their thoughts on the Peter’s handling of the situation. Caroline said: “Absolutely right to have them removed”
Sean commented: “Peter Kay was right to have the two hecklers out.” Paul posted: “If the heckler can’t be quietened by embarrassment, then they are eventually going to spoil the show for the other paying guests.”
Maria posted: “You can only let people heckle for so long then they need to stop agree people have paid to see the comic not someone constantly shouting the same thing & being disruptive I’ve seen Peter he does interact with hecklers but I’m guessing he has a schedule to fit his material in to!”
