Danny Jones was spotted looking cheerful just days after issuing a heartfelt apology to his wife and family. The McFly frontman found himself in hot water after footage emerged of him sharing a kiss with Love Island’s Maura Higgins at a BRIT Awards afterparty earlier this month.
Danny, 39, and Maura, who were co-stars on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year, were seen sharing a kiss at the Universal Music BRIT Awards afterparty on Saturday, 1 March. Onlookers claimed that the pair seemed quite cosy with each other at the star-studded event. While Maura, 34, has kept quiet about the incident, Danny took to social media last week to apologise to his wife and family for his actions and thanked fans for their “understanding” of the situation.
Danny wrote: “Sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately.
“I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny.”
Danny has been married to wife Georgia, a former Miss England, since 2014, and they have a son, Cooper, seven, together.
It’s been reported that Georgia has been left “furious” after the incident. However, Danny looked in high spirits as he was spotted out and about in West London on Tuesday, reports the Mirror.
The I’m A Celeb winner embraced the UK’s warmer weather, donning a white T-shirt paired with black joggers, white trainers and a brown beanie. He also had a black backpack on and a jumper over his shoulder.
After his public apology to his wife and family, a source told The Mirror: “Danny has been mortified about whats happened and the awful situation he has put everyone in. He cares so deeply about his family and hopes his words will draw a line under what has been a deeply upsetting time, for everyone. Georgia and his son are absolutely everything to him.
“Throughout all this, he has been so thankful for the support of his fans. He just wants to move on, and heal in private.”
After the BRIT Awards, Danny was spotted giving Maura a peck before moving in for a kiss on the lips. An insider at the time noted they “seemed to be having a great time,” and said: “They looked like they had a brief drunken kiss.”
Insiders have revealed that the duo were spotted partying at the posh Nobu Hotel in Central London on March 1. They were reportedly enjoying wine until the early hours of 4am, before leaving together around 6am.
Danny’s wife has remained silent about the scandal, but it’s been confirmed by the Mirror that she hasn’t permanently left their shared home. A source said of Danny and Georgia’s living situation: “They are still together but Danny is still in the dog house and it’s very much a fragile union.
“They both hope to work through their issues. That hasn’t changed. She is allowed a few days to decompress and see a friend.”
