Holly Willoughby was praised as she responded to last night’s “brutal” turn on Dancing On Ice. The mum-of-three returned to host Sunday’s edition of the popular ITV programme alongside Stephen Mulhern.
Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill were in the judges’ seats to cast their eye on the performances. Anton Ferdinand and Christopher Taylor were the two celebrities who received the fewest votes in last night’s show.
Former QPR defender Ferdinand had been the favourite to depart the show earlier this week. However, the a surprise twist saw the judges unanimously vote to send home Love Island star Chris instead.
Holly has taken to Instagram after the episode to reflect on the turn of events. She said: “Night all… thank you for watching @dancingonice …
“Sad to see @christophertaylorofficial leave, those skate off’s are brutal… so happy for @anton_ferdinand5 though… See you next week for 80’s week.”
Fans took to the comments to praise Holly after the update as they looked forward to how the show progresses as it enters its final stages. Stephanie said: “Been loving this series. The quality of this year’s contestants is off the charts.”
Johnny commented: “Sad to see Chris go in the skate-off. The celebs are making improvements each week. Absolutely love your sparkly dress tonight.”
Chris was rocked midway through the series when his partner Vanessa Bauer was forced to quit with an injury. The professional was replaced by Robin Johnstone after she confirmed her exit.
The figure skater said: “I’m here today with rather upsetting news. I am unfortunately not going to be able to continue on Dancing on Ice with Chris. That’s really upsetting for me.
“I have trained Chris since October last year and it is always such an amazing achievement for myself to see someone else progress so much in a skill they’ve never done before.
“So it’s been really rewarding for me to watch this whole journey for Chris [and] the way he’s got better week since October and also since the live shows started.”
