The iconic series Silent Witness has made a much-anticipated return, setting tongues wagging over the fresh faces in the acclaimed cast with actress Maggie Steed joining Emilia Fox among the illustrious lineup.
Yet it seems that there’s more to the story between Disney + Rival’s actress and Dr Nikki Alexander, played by the talented Emilia. New details have emerged showing the pair have shared a past connection that extends far beyond the show’s script.
Maggie let on about her long-standing acquaintance with Emilia in the lead up to her appearance on the programme, revealing they not only had a professional history but also familial ties. She acknowledged a considerable gap since their last collaboration but recounted a previous union in an old radio project.
In a tell-all with the BBC, the newcomer disclosed her familiarity with Emilia’s family, drawing particular attention to her bond with Emilia’s mother, whom she knew “very well” which precedes her landing a role beside the leading lady on screen, reports the Mirror.
Maggie didn’t hold back in expressing her enthusiasm for reuniting with Emilia, stating: “I know her mum very well, and I love her.”
Discussing the dynamic with Emilia further, Maggie opened up: “Emilia and I did a radio drama together years and years ago when she was just starting out. But I didn’t really know her that well before this. I only knew that I liked her. And then we began acting together and the on-set chemistry seems to have worked very well.”

On the topic of joining the new instalment of Silent Witness, Maggie couldn’t contain her excitement, remarking: “I’ve always really enjoyed Silent Witness. I like the way that it’s actually very serious, it doesn’t mess about.”
Maggie isn’t the only fresh face in 2025, joining her is Francesca Mills. The duo will be stepping into the roles of new Head of Lyell Centre and Crime analyst, promising to stir things up.

Silent Witness made a comeback this week, with an unmissable second episode of the new series continuing the story of poor Benjamin (portrayed by David Hargreaves) on his quest to find his missing friend Gloria.
The bewildered pensioner was still unaware that Gloria had passed away, until he became the victim of a scam, with the perpetrator intending to murder him. However, tables turned when Benjamin ended up killing the offender.
The gripping two-part episode concluded with the police apprehending the real murderer, ensuring justice was served.
