Jasmine Harman has shared a personal update with fans after landing a hefty fine. The A Place in the Sun presenter is regularly on our TV screens as she helps house-hunters find their dream home.
The presenter relocated to Spain with husband Jon Boast and their children. In 2023, she shared her journey on social media as she said: “Moving country has been stressful and intense and at times, overwhelming. But now we’re here and we plan to make the most of it.”
The 49-year-old has been on the Channel 4 programme since 2004 and this inspired her to embark on the adventure herself. She is still adapting to life overseas and in her most recent social media update, told fans that she had landed a fine for a law she was not aware of.
Sharing a video, she said: “This is a public service announcement, I was not aware that if you are driving in your car you cannot touch your screen, even if you’re using carplay. I thought that’s what carplay was for, so that you could control your incoming phone calls, maps, listening and whatever. Touching the screen so that you wouldn’t have to touch your phone.”
The host continued: “Apparently no, that’s not allowed, while driving you’re not allowed to touch the screen in your car. I have just received a €100 so I thought I would let everyone know.”
On the video caption, Jasmine explained that the reason she was given by officers is that we have controls on our steering wheels. She added “lesson learned the hard way! You’re welcome.”
Fans shared their thoughts on the situation, one person said: “They need to integrate voice controls in cars for this reason. Like your Google home or Alexa, could could ask the car to load up sat nav, or play radio 1 or call “mum”
A second added “I didn’t know that Jasmine! It’d take me longer to find the control on the steering wheel than the touch screen! Others responded “Noooo….I live in Lanzarote and didn’t know this” and “Thank you for saying this…had no idea.”
