TV presenter Steve Jones has praised his wife Phylicia Jackson following her ‘brutal’ fertility journey, as he called the journey ‘one of the hardest things’ he’s been through
Welsh TV presenter Steve Jones, 47, has opened up about his and wife Phylicia Jackson’s challenging fertility journey, describing it as ‘brutal’. Speaking on the podcast Who We Are Now with former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond and his daughter Izzy, Steve praised his wife for her strength throughout their struggles.
Steve said: “Life’s thrown me a few curveballs over the years, but this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through, just seeing Phylicia try to start that family. To see her put her body through everything she’s put it through due to endometriosis, the multiple surgeries, and for the conclusion to be it ain’t happening, which was the news we got I think last year. It’s been brutal.”
The former T4 host went on to express his admiration for his wife, saying: “She’s an amazing woman, just incredible. I’m so lucky to have her and with kids, without kids. I just don’t care, as long as she’s in my life. She’s an amazing person.”
Previously, on Lily Allen’s Miss Me? podcast, Steve shared more about Phylicia’s battle with endometriosis and how it has affected their chances of having children. He explained: “She essentially has had endometriosis her entire adult life. Phylicia had undergone a number of surgeries, as the presenter continued: “These surgeries over time can lessen your chances of having kids, and that’s what’s happened to us,” as he called his wife a ‘superhero’.
Steve and Phylicia’s romance started 11 years back at a friend’s birthday bash, which coincided with Steve’s stint on X Factor USA. Fast forward to 2013, and love had Phylicia packing her bags for the UK to be with her beau, leading to a proposal just a year later. Steve has been open about his love for his wife, telling The Mirror, “I love being with my wife. She’s my absolute favourite person.”
Before finding his forever love, Steve was linked to stars including Pamela Anderson and Hayden Panettiere, as well as British TV stars Fearne Cotton and Alex Jones, and the late Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud. But those days are behind him, as he’s made clear: “To even talk about the past now would be disrespectful to her”, reports the Mirror. “I don’t think about the past. I don’t read about myself or Google my own name.”
It’s all about the present for Steve, who revels in their happiness, saying, “We’re happy and having a good time. That’s one of the things I’m most proud about.”
Phylicia often gives us a peek into their adorable life together, like their Vegas getaway after ringing in a decade of love. Celebrating their milestone, Phylicia shared a sweet post: “10 years [ring emoji]. I’d say I can’t believe it but that would be a lie. Life’s too easy and wonderful with you.”
