The Masked Singer UK fans were left on tenterhooks as the identity of the celeb behind the Spaghetti Bolognese costume was finally revealed. The sixth series kicked off on Saturday (January 4) with six new characters – Teeth, Snail, Tattoo, Kingfisher, Spaghetti Bolognese and Dressed Crab – taking to the stage.
Celebrity detectives Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross and special guest Sir Mo Farah had their work cut out for them. However, after receiving the least votes from the studio audience, Spag Bol and Teeth found themselves in the danger zone. The panel chose to save Teeth, meaning Spag Bol was the first to be sent packing. As the mystery celeb began to remove their mask, host Joel Dommett stepped in, leaving viewers hanging until Sunday’s (January 5) episode.
It was then revealed that Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway was the face behind the mask. Speaking to Joel, Kate admitted: “I can’t sing and I kept telling them that and they kept saying ‘it doesn’t matter’.”
She also confessed that her kids Darcey and Billy Draper were kept in the dark about her participation in the show, believing she was “doing something for charity”, reports the Mirror.
The Masked Singer’s latest unmasking didn’t exactly leave viewers gobsmacked – as many had worked out it was Kate. Fans were quick to hit up social media, with one sleuth tweeting: “I knew it was kate garraway! ! ! #MaskedSingerUK.”
Another chimed in: “It was obvious #MaskedSingerUK.” A third detective declared: “Of course its Kate Garraway #MaskedSingerUK.” while a fourth agreed, posting: “I said Kate Garraway in family group chat last night #MaskedSingerUK.”
The excitement continues as Bush, Bear, Pegasus, Pufferfish, Toad in The Hole and Wolf are all set to make their debut performances in the show’s upcoming episode.
When it comes to the other contestants, many are convinced they’ve worked out the identity of Bush, after a major show ‘leak’. It comes after the singer dropped a hint that he had been offered the role of Bush, which has been re-discovered on a fan page.
The theory has been sparked after fans dug up information from a Wiki fan page dedicated to the show. A recent Reddit thread saw fans sharing a link to the page, which hinted that Bush might be a McFly member, reports the Express.
The page revealed: “On an episode of The Voice UK, Danny Jones stated that he was given the choice between a Piranha and a Bush.” With Danny having already triumphed as Piranha, it’s led fans to wonder if Harry Judd or another bandmate could be behind Bush’s mask.
One excited fan speculated: “It could be another member of McFly such as Harry Judd or maybe a boy band member such as MATT WILLIS.” Another is convinced it could be Tom Fletcher as they commented: “It just looks like him. I don’t know how to explain.”
