Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari has opened up about their relationship, saying he will “never say a bad word” about the pop princess following their divorce
Britney Spears’ former hubby, Sam Asghari, has spilled the beans about his time with the pop icon. The duo first crossed paths when the original actor for her 2016 music video Slumber Party was a no-show, leaving Sam to step into the breach. Their friendship soon blossomed into love, leading fans to believe that Britney, who had experienced heartbreak before, had finally found her Mr Right.
They made their relationship Instagram official in January of the following year, ringing in 2017 together at a Los Angeles bash. Fast forward to September 2021, and the couple announced their engagement after Sam got down on one knee, sharing their happiness on social media. Throughout Britney’s conservatorship, Sam stood by her side, openly supporting the If U Seek Amy singer.
During the Free Britney campaign, he used his social media platforms to advocate for Britney’s release from the court-ordered conservatorship held against her by her father, Jamie Spears. Now, in a fresh interview, he’s declared that he’ll never utter a negative word about the pop queen, saying “I just wish her the best”.
Sam, who is set to star on the US version of The Traitors, opened up about his relationship philosophy to Page Six, saying: “I think it’s the bare minimum you can do as a partner, to be a backbone to someone and to be their biggest supporter, biggest cheerleader, the biggest… The biggest everything.”, reports the Mirror.
Despite marrying at her California home on June 9, 2022, the couple faced challenges, leading to a divorce filing the next year due to irreconcilable differences, with the official sign-off on December 2, 2024. Reflecting on their time together, Sam expressed his well-wishes: “I just wish her the best. I think that the number one factor of a partner is to be there for one another, no matter what.”
He also shared his perspective on fame and relationships, emphasizing that he never wanted to “take advantage” of Britney’s celebrity status.
“We all go through this life and we go through different chapters and you meet people along the way and they are a big part of your life. You’re just always thankful for every moment that you spent with people in the past.”
Sam disapproves of ex-partners attacking each other in public, grateful that he’s never experienced such behaviour himself. Moving forward, eight months after finalizing his divorce, Sam has introduced his new love interest, Brooke Irvine, to the world.

The adorable snaps featured the couple under a palm tree, locked in a tender gaze, both donning white ensembles; Sam in a chic outfit and Brooke stunning in a fitted dress with a daring thigh-high slit.
