James Corden shared a behind the scenes snap from the final episode of Gavin and Stacey, with fans quickly spotting where to get the bedding used in one of the episode’s key scenes
While we were all counting down the days until December 25, eager to unwrap gifts and enojy family gatherings, there was something else that had us on tenterhooks – the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special. This heart-tugging finale saw James Corden’s Smithy finally tie the knot, and off-screen, James shared some candid behind the scenes shots on his Instagram.
One image included Smithy and Gavin, played by Mathew Horne, cosied up in the same bed where Julia Davis’ character Dawn Sutcliff is caught reuniting with Pete, giving it an unexpected starring role in the episode. Observant fans recognising the chic bedding, and quickly identified it as the Belle Reversible Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set from Dunelm, with a double size set costing £20.
One fan, who works at Dunelm, exclaimed: “I don’t have the duvet set but I know where it’s from as I work for Dunelm and I’m so sad – as my family tell me when I recognise our products on TV but I see these items every day! Belle Grey is one of our stores good sellers, maybe after seeing it on the final it might become the best one of 2025?!”
While it comes in an array of colours, it was the light grey version that graced the screen, with options of charcoal grey and light blue also up for grabs. Dunelm gives you the choice between 100% cotton or a polycotton blend and the prices vary slightly depending on the material.
The Belle Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set’s 100% cotton version is priced slightly higher than the polycotton blend, with the double size setting you back £20 for polycotton and £24 for pure cotton. Available in all sizes from single to superking, this bedding set is a hit for its reversible design, featuring contrasting colours for an instant bedroom refresh.
Customers are also raving about it, scoring it an impressive 4.6 out of 5 stars with over a thousand glowing 5 star reviews.
One satisfied buyer wrote: “Very pleased with my purchase very good quality material and excellent price,” while another enthused: “This duvet set looks absolutely stunning, really brightens up the bedroom, excellent quality and feels great also washes well.”
Some noted it could be softer, with one remarking: “Lovely pattern but not as soft as I would like may soften up after a few washes hopefully,” and advice from another: “Great value but iron while damp as difficult to iron when dry.”
Yet, many are delighted, with comments like: “Lovely cotton duvet set. Easy to iron. Light colours on both sides, not too dark.”
In comparison, Marks and Spencer’s own reversible floral duvet set, the Cotton Blend Floral Bedding Set, ranges from £17.50 for a single to £29.50 for a superking, boasting two different floral patterns and earning praise for its quality: “Good quality, nice material and colour. Washed well and did not need ironing.”
Luxury seekers will love Next’s Shabby Chic by Rachel Ashwell floral bedding set, with its 200 thread count and pure cotton fabric, priced from £55 to £90, reports the Mirror. Buyers are gushing over it; one review reads: “Very pretty with the delicate flowers covering the duvet cover. Superb quality, washes well. I love Rachel Ashwell’s bedding range and have purchased a few items from this range.”
