Gemma Collins says she’d ‘love’ to land a role on major soap

Gemma Collins has her sights set on a potential new acting career – and she knows exactly which TV soap she’d like to appear on which would be a dream come true

Gemma Collins, dazzling queen of reality TV and a die-hard Coronation Street fan, has revealed her ambition to feature on the iconic ITV soap – and she’s got big dreams for her potential character. In true Gemma fashion, she confessed her desires to The Daily Star, “It would be amazing to be on a soap one day. I’d love to be in Corrie. I recently met Claire Sweeney and I think she’s hilarious, so I could go on the cobbles with her.”

Not one for being typecast, the Essex star wants to surprise viewers with a raw and gritty character, far removed from her own glitzy life.

She elaborated, “I’d like to play a character that’s memorable. I want to play someone people wouldn’t expect… a character who’s very different to what people think I’d be.”

Setting her sights on a challenging role, she suggested, “Maybe I could be someone who is sleeping rough on the streets… someone who is covered in cuts and bruises.” Coronation Street has seen its fair share of stardom with appearances from Peter Kay, Lorraine Kelly, and Paddy McGuinness. Gemma could potentially add her sparkle to Weatherfield, reports the Mirror.

Yet it’s not only the cobblestone charm of Coronation Street that entices her; Gemma says she’s also tempted by the drama-filled EastEnders. Fresh from her lucrative ventures, recently earning £1000 a second for one job, Gemma’s confidence is sky-high. She claimed to the Daily Star that she’s ready to give EastEnders stars a “run for their money,” playfully stating, “I never say never, hun!”

Teasing the potential of joining a hit TV soap, she playfully suggested: “If the right role came along, I’d absolutely consider it. I love bringing a bit of glamour and fun wherever I go. So, who knows? Maybe one day I’ll be strutting down Albert Square, giving everyone a run for their money.”

She also divulged on her selective nature when it comes to television roles, revealing: “Let’s just say I’m quite selective these days. I’ve learned to trust my gut. If something doesn’t feel right, I’ll pass. Life’s too short to say yes to things that don’t light you up. No major regrets though – every experience has taught me something.”

Gemma rose to fame when she joined hit ITVBe show The Only Way Is Essex during the second series in 2011. She has since become a household name and has starred in reality shows including I’m A Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother.
