The Masked Singer’s Giant Joel has left fans convinced that his true identity has been ‘leaked’ online after they spotted a huge hint in a snap shared by Virgin Media Television
Masked Singer enthusiasts are buzzing with theories that the person behind the Giant Joel costume has been accidentally revealed. The character, a lookalike of host Joel Dommett, made a splash during the Christmas special on Boxing Day. Although Giant Joel’s identity is set to be unveiled in the series six opener on Saturday (January 4), a social media slip-up may have spilled the beans early. A Virgin Media Television Instagram post, which went live before the episode broadcast, included photos from the show.
Sharp-eyed fans noticed Sir Mo Farah in one image alongside the panel of celebrity sleuths, sparking speculation that he might be the man inside the Giant Joel outfit. Social media was abuzz, with one viewer tweeting: “Have @virginMedia_TV just given away who Giant Joel is? #MaskedSingerUK.”
Another chimed in: “Have you just given away who Giant Joel is? I did think it sounded like Mo Farah and then you post this..”
On Friday (January 3), Giant Joel turned up on Good Morning Britain, where presenter Kate Garraway described his presence as “so disturbing” and tried to coax out some hints, reports the Mirror.
She questioned if he was as beloved as the real Joel, to which he responded with a thumbs up, leaving her to exclaim: “That doesn’t give us any help! Everyone loves Joel.”
The character, who was using foam paddles to communicate yes and no responses due to being on voice rest, cheekily confirmed they were better looking and funnier than former I’m A Celeb star Joel. However, when Adil Ray, Kate’s co-host, asked if there was a connection to the ITV reality show, the answer was a firm no.
Later, Adil speculated that it could be Olympian Sir Mo Farah behind the mask. But instead of giving a clear yes or no, the character simply shrugged. Kate then threw in her own guess, suggesting it might be Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre. Fans will have to wait until the first episode of the new series to see if Mo is indeed Giant Joel.
