Fans figure out the return of axed Traitors after cliffhanger episode

The Traitors viewers are convinced they have rumbled how three contestants will return to the show after a twist at the end of the episode on Friday night – but how will they come back?

The most recent episode of The Traitors on Friday 3 January ended with a mind-blowing twist that has audiences buzzing about the return of certain players. At the start of the series, 25 hopefuls boarded a train to head toward the Scottish castle, when suddenly host Claudia Winkleman halted the journey, announcing that one person from each carriage had to disembark within 10 minutes for the rest of the players to earn up to £10,000. Fozia, Jack and Alexander bravely chose to leave, which, with seven minutes remaining, added £7,000 to the ultimate prize pot for the winner.

However, in an intriguing turn of events at the end of Friday’s episode, it was hinted that those who selflessly stepped off would be making a comeback to the castle as shadowy figures were seen riding towards the Highland setting – leaving fans to wonder how they will re-enter the game and what twists they will bring. Eagle-eyed viewers have shared their theories online, with comments such as: “I wonder if the traitors get to choose out of the 3 new guys to recruit a traitor #TheTraitors,” and “Rail replacement?! The train people! I bet they have to choose 1 to join the traitor team.”

Another chimed in, “Oh the 3 from the start are coming back… please make two of them traitors im begging for fozia and alexander,” while another excitedly speculated, “THAT’S THE THREE WHO GOT OFF THE TRAIN ISN’T IT?! PLEASE!!” reports the Mirror.

Claudia has teased the new dynamics of this series of The Traitors, revealing: “When they turn up, they assume they know the way the game is going to go, and it is our job to explain that it isn’t. There are twists throughout, but they have to be different from series one and two. They’ve come to hopefully walk away with up to £120,000, but also to play a game, and I like the fact that they don’t know which way it’s going to go.”

She told the contestants: “Winning the money is going to require even more smarts than ever this year. Listen carefully. Those who make it to the final will no longer reveal their true identities as they leave. Instead, you will need to rely solely on your instincts as to whether any Traitors are left in the game.”

Last season’s winner Harry commented: “It’s driving me mad! They’ve made it easier for Traitors to win. The reason why this has got on my back so much is because in my series you had to reveal if you were a Traitor or a Faithful. That meant people knew that there was still a Traitor in the game.”

“So if there’s five of you at the end, everyone knows that one of them five has to be a Traitor, so you can just keep going and keep throwing the fire pit until you get the one Traitor at least. There may be two, there may be three, but there has to be one.”
