Dr Michael Mosley’s final TV documentary to air on Channel 5 this month

The TV doctor died while on holiday in Greece earlier this year

The final documentary made by Dr Michael Mosley will air on Channel 5 later this month. The broadcaster, 67, died after he went missing in June while on a walk on Symi, part of the Dodecanese island chain in Greece.

He left around 1.30pm that afternoon and his wife, Dr Clare Bailey, 62, raised the alarm when he didn’t return by 7.30pm. Local police officers scoured the island, assisted by firefighters, and deployed drones to try to locate Dr Mosley’s whereabouts.

His body was found four days later at the Agia Marina on the island. Now, the presenter’s final documentary made before his tragic death, which will look at the human body and truths behind new technology, will air, reports the Mirror.

In the three part series, Dr Mosley put his own body under the microscope and had a look at why people age and bones break, among other mysteries. The programme, titled ‘ Michael Mosley: Wonders Of The Human Body’, which saw him travel around the UK, is due to air later this month and it will see Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, a GP and cookery book author, appear.

Greek authorities determined Dr Mosley died of natural causes but an inquest in the UK has been arranged for later this year. Dr Bailey Mosley revealed the dad-of-four seemed to have embarked on an “incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen” by emergency search teams after he disappeared following a day at Agios Nikolaos beach with her and friends on June 5.

In July, the BBC paid tribute to the esteemed doctor-turned-broadcaster with a special day in his honour, urging presenters and viewers alike to adopt “just one thing” for better health. Mosley was known for taking extreme measures in his shows, including a 2014 documentary where he lived with tapeworms for six weeks. In another daring feat in 2015, he used his own blood to create two black puddings, highlighting their nutritional benefits.
