Carol Vorderman said she was struck as she shared a sudden diagnosis. The 64-year-old has opened up on her health in a response to a post from Coronation Street star, Sally Dynevor.
In an update on Instagram, the Sally Metcalfe star said she has undergone an MRI as she recognises the importance of early detection after her breast cancer diagnosis in 2009. She said: “After my journey with Breast Cancer I’ve learned how powerful early detection is. Health isn’t something to take for granted.
“That’s why I chose the @ezrainc full body MRI and CT scan, a powerful radiation-free way to detect potential health issues early. Prevention can be lifesaving, catching problems before symptoms appear. The Ezra scan is about knowledge and peace of mind.”
Former Countdown star Carol was one of many to take to the comments as she shared a candid update on her own health. She said: “Morning Sally.
“I’ve done the same this year with a full body MRI and all clear thankfully. Having the special blood test for 70 cancers this week. Early detection where possible is now my mantra.
“The costs have come down dramatically for these services but they are sadly still a lot for most people.
“I was struck with sudden and chronically debilitating rheumatoid arthritis almost a year ago and it’s taken a long time to get the meds right, so I no longer take my health for granted in any way xx.
“Sending huge love and thanks to you for spreading the word and your honesty in all these matters. It helps no end of us mere mortals.”
Soap star Sally responded as she said to Carol: “So important as we get older. Sending love to you xxx” Sally was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, but after having a lumpectomy and six months of chemotherapy, she made a full recovery.
Sally’s 63-year-old husband, actor Tim Dynevor, was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and is now cancer-free, and now the pair are making sure to live life to the full.
In an interview with Mirror this year, the soap star said: “Going through something like that makes you want to embrace life all the more.
“We’d love to do more travelling. We’re trying really hard to just do lots of lovely things while we can. You just don’t know what’s around the corner, do you? That’s why we’ve decided we should do a couple of our bucket list things.
“We all put stuff off and think, ‘It’s too expensive, I’m not going to do that.’ But we’re in our 60s now and this is the time to be doing these things.”
