
Mia Carragher is enjoying her time playing The Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen for a new production in London. The daughter of former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher and his wife Nicola, has made huge steps in her acting career this year and is ending 2025 on a high.
The upcoming actress regularly shares insights of her time in London and her most recent update shows she hasn’t forgotten her roots despite spending much of the last couple of months outside of Liverpool. A picture of a bracelet was shared on Mia’s Instagram Story, it had “Scouse Katniss” written on it alongside pearl and star beads.
The stage adaptation is based on the book series, written by Suzanne Collins. It is taking place in purpose-built, state-of-the-art venue, Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre. It is the first ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ internationally acclaimed book and the subsequent movie series.
The Hunger Games on Stage follows the journey of fearless heroine Katniss Everdeen, played by Mia, as she defies the odds in a gripping tale of courage, hope and unbreakable human spirit.

Before the live shows got underway, a photo of Mia’s script was shared with a message from Suzanne attached. A personal message to Mia, said: “For Mia, may the odds be ever in your favour. Thank you for your amazing work bringing Katniss to life on the stage. Love Suzanne Collins.”
After receiving the incredible role, Mia said: “I am so excited and honoured to be playing Katniss. This is a dream come true role and I cannot wait to see the production come to life.
“From being a huge fan of the films, I feel so lucky to be a part of the Hunger Games world, especially working with Matthew Dunster and an incredible creative team.”
Carragher and his family celebrated the first official opening night of The Hunger Games: On Stage on November 12. The Liverpool FC legend and wife Nicola have been vocal about their support for daughter Mia, as she takes on the biggest role of her career so far.
Jamie Carragher spoke to the ECHO about his and wife Nicola’s pride and how he’s feeling as his daughter takes on the role of Katniss Everdeen in the highly anticipated show.
He said: “I’m a little bit nervous because, you know, it’s your daughter, it’s your baby. But I am so excited for her, she’s put so much work in. They’ve been rehearsing for two or three months now and she’s been down in London on her own.
“We’ve been getting down to see her when we can. It’s been full on, they’re not leaving the theatre until 10 o’clock just to make sure it’s right.
“That’s the name of the game, isn’t it? That’s the game that she is in. As I’ve said, she’s put the work in, now go and enjoy it – be Katniss.”
A number of Mia’s previous credits include One Night in Istanbul and The Gathering, on Channel 4.
