Atomic Kitten star Liz McClarnon has shared the birth of her baby boy after years of IVF treatment. The 44-year-old singer from Liverpool announced her pregnancy in an Instagram video in May showing her baby bump.
Sharing on an Instagram story to her 100k followers this morning, Liz McClarnon posed with her thumbs up in a hospital gown. In the picture caption she said: “Little man arrived early. It started out a bit scary but all went well in the end.”
McClarnon was an original member of girl group Atomic Kitten, who formed in the late 1990s and had hits including The Tide Is High and Whole Again. Previously, she had opened up to OK! magazine about deciding to start IVF treatment before her wedding to Peter Cho.
“The first time we did it, I thought, ‘this will be it’, but by my third cycle, it was obviously very different”, she said.
She added: “When that one didn’t work, I was really quite sick and I was in a dark hole I’d put on so much weight but I didn’t want to tell anyone why because I didn’t want the IVF to become my identity, my whole personality.
“I was still doing shows and I’d see the comments online talking about me.

“I remember one said, ‘She’s getting really thick,’ and others were like, ‘she’s unrecognisable.’”
In July, McClarnon said she had undergone eight rounds of IVF treatment within three years.
Alongside a video montage on Instagram explaining her journey, she said: “I’ve been on hormones more often than not. I just wanted to share how it can look.”
She described the whole process as “sometimes normal, sometimes very not.”
When previously speaking to The Mirror, the singer, who now resides in London, expressed her joy about her pregnancy, saying she’s “loving life” despite some challenges along the way.
Liz and Peter, who got married in 2023, announced their happy news in May through an Instagram clip. In the clip, Liz was sitting on a park bench before turning round to reveal her bump.
In the video, she said: “I’ve been keeping a secret from you, and I’ve mostly kept myself off social media because sometimes it was hard to smile.
“But after years of sometimes quite painful IVF and dark times, I’m pregnant! We feel like we’ve been given the world”.
