Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, has dropped a bombshell claim in his new memoir, You Thought You Knew, suggesting that the pop princess never truly moved on from her former flame, Justin Timberlake. In her own tell-all book, The Woman in Me, released in 2023, Britney shared intimate details about her past relationship with pop sensation Justin, which lasted from 1999 to 2002.
The Toxic singer reportedly became pregnant with the former NSYNC heartthrob’s child but chose to have an abortion as “Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father”, something she described as “one of the most agonising things” she’s ever gone through.
Her past love affair with the Grammy-winning Cry Me a River crooner also featured in Kevin’s book. He claimed that Britney rang Justin the night before their wedding, according to the Telegraph.
While reportedly in tears, she assured him that she wanted to go ahead with the marriage. However, Kevin felt that she had “unfinished business” with Justin.

He further insinuated that Britney never “really got over him” and painted a picture of how Justin would always linger in the background of their relationship, which officially ended in divorce in 2007. Federline likened her ex-boyfriend’s presence to “like a ghost in the background”.
Britney, mum to Sean Preston and Jayden James with her ex-husband, has hit back at Kevin’s “constant gaslighting” following allegations made in his book.
He shockingly claimed that the ‘Oops!…I Did It Again’ singer would stand over their sleeping sons holding a knife. According to Kevin, their boys would wake up to find Britney watching them, only for her to leave without saying a word.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Britney addressed what she called her ex’s “gaslighting”, telling her followers that she “always pleaded and screamed” for a life with her boys.
She penned: “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex.”

Britney also expressed feeling “demoralised by this situation” and revealed she had always asked and “almost begged” for her children to be part of her life, but they’d seen the “lack of respect shown by their own father for me.”
She continued: “They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.”
Britney continued: “Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.”
Finally, the pop icon noted that she’s a “pretty intelligent woman” who had been trying to live a “sacred and private life” for the past five years, adding that she’s speaking on this as she’s “had enough”.
