Coronation Street’s Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton on the Cobbles, has described herself as the “luckiest girl” in the world to have Sydney Martin by her side on set and to be so close to her off-set. Sydney plays the role of Betsy Swain on the fictional street.

The 23-year-old arrived on the Cobbles in 2022 and has since established herself as one of the show’s major characters, particularly in the murder of soap villain Joel Deering. Lauren had a child with Joel and was involved in his downfall, along with Paddy Bever’s character, Max Turner.

Lauren’s troubles have continued in the show as she was recently caught up in a spiking scandal when Aadi decided to host a party for the teenagers on the street.

Yesterday, Lauren did a Q&A on social media and one fan asked “has Sydney Martin made you the happiest woman on the planet? I adore your friendship so much.”

The actress replied with a photo of her and Sydney together, captioning it “Luckiest girl in the world to have her by my side.” In March, Sydney shared a video of the Lauren Bolton star blowing out candles on a birthday cake as she celebrated her 23rd birthday.

She wrote “This gorgeous girls birthday. Couldn’t do life without you!” The two soap stars regularly keep fans updated on social media and will often share TikTok videos together.

Sydney made her debut as Betsy Swain last year and soon became a fan-favourite. Betsy has been at the heart of the drama on the the soap and was involved in scenes which saw her mum, D.S Lisa Swain proposed to Carla Connor last month

Other questions Cait were asked included: “What’s your favourite thing about playing Lauren?”, to which Cait responded: “I love how complex she is to play.

“She’s very temperamental but she also has this vulnerability hiding under the bravado she puts on. I just love playing her.”

She also opened up on her love of Strictly and wanting to take part in the BBC dance show. She wrote “I am a mega Strictly fan. Always been a dream of mine to take part in this show.” She added: “You bet I am tuning in every Saturday and Sunday to watch my Strictly.”
