Fans of the show rushed to show their support

Jeremy Clarkson has shared a devastating update from Diddly Squat farm. The former Top Gear host said “so sad” as he announced the death of a calf born on the land.

A picture of the adorable calf was shared to the Instagram account of the TV star, Jeremy captioned it: “This was the first calf ever born at Diddly Squat. And this morning she was destroyed, while pregnant with twins, because she has TB. ” After previous losses in July, Jeremy said his team were “absolutely devastated”

The former Top Gear presenter bought the farmland in 2008 and in 2021, the first series of Clarkson’s Farm aired on Amazon Prime. The popular Amazon show takes viewers through Jeremy’s day-to-day life at Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds.

It follows his experience of learning to run a farm while he is taught by a group of experts. The fourth season of the reality series was released in May 2025, with a fifth season confirmed during production.

Jeremy shared the news that bovine tuberculosis was confirmed at his farm in July. The outbreak on the 65-year-old’s land forced the culling of cattle including an unborn pair of calves.

The disease, which is caused by Mycobacterium bovis, requires the immediate slaughter of infected animals to prevent its spread. Government data shows that more than 21,000 cattle were culled in England between April 2024 and March 2025 due to TB incidents.

Badgers have featured prominently in the Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm. In its second season, Jeremy was told that badgers were responsible for TB risk on his land. One tested positive for the bacteria that causes the disease.

In 2023, Jeremy said: “These are not nice animals. Do not be fooled by Brian May This is how much heartache they’re causing to people who’ve worked for generations to build up a farm that’s been wiped out by badgers.”

After the latest farm update, uploaded today October 9, many supportive messages have been sent to Jeremy and his team. One comment said: “Very sad indeed ,the compassion Mr Jeremy Clarkson shows animals in this increasingly horrible world is very heartwarming and I for one are very grateful to him.”

Another comment said: “That’s so sad, I remember the joy and excitement from you all when she was born. It’s heartbreaking to hear, I hope the rest of the herd is safe.”

Others said: “Unfortunately that’s the reality of TB outbreaks on farms” and “So sad but currently only way to ensure rest of herd have best chance of staying safe.”

His Diddly Squat farm shop closed for two months last Christmas and reopened earlier this year. During the closure, Clarkson opened a temporary outlet in his pub, The Farmer’s Dog.
