Alan Halsall has shared a career update as he reflected on a moment he will “never forget”. Alan is best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs on the hit ITV soap and has been a regular on our screens since taking on the role back in 1998. The actor often shares aspects of his life to his followers on Instagram.
His on-screen counterpart found himself at the centre of the drama in Weatherfield last month when he fell victim to a terrifying hit and run accident. Betsy Swain witnessed the horrific incident on the night of her 18th birthday, before Tyrone was taken to hospital.
The mechanic has suffered a severe spinal injury and is facing a long road to recovery. He recently opened up to his wife Fiz that he can’t feel or move his legs and may never walk again.
Thankfully, Alan’s life away from the iconic cobbles is far less turbulent. He shares 12-year-old daughter Sienna with his ex-wife and former co-star Lucy-Jo Hudson.
Their marriage lasted almost a decade, tying the knot back in 2009 and parting ways in 2018. Alan also split with his former co-star Tisha Merry, 31, in 2024 after five years together.
Earlier this year, Alan stepped out for the first time with his new partner. He confirmed his romance with HR coordinator Ellie Dolan in May, sharing a photo with a love heart emoji in the caption.

In a more recent update on social media, Ellie shared a stunning photo of herself and Alan, referring to him as “her man”. The two were in attendance at an awards ceremony, where Alan claimed the prize for “A Legend in Television Acting” at the Legends of Industry Awards.
Alan recently shared his own post after receiving the award, saying it is a moment he will “never forget”. Sharing a photo of himself holding the award, he wrote: “I’m incredibly honoured to have received the Variety ‘Legends of Industry Award’ in recognition of my contribution to the television industry.
“It was such a special evening for me and my family and a moment I’ll never forget. I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me throughout my career — this truly means the world.
“A huge thank you to Variety, the Children’s Charity, for this honour and for the incredible work they do improving the lives of children and young people every day.”
The official Coronation Street Instagram page commented: “Congratulations Al!” Sally Carman, who portrays Abi Webster on the ITV soap, commented: “Al, this is amazing! Why didn’t you mention it??? [laughing face]”. Ryan Thomas, who played Jason Grimshaw, also wrote: “Big legend.”
Other fans also took to the comments. One said: “Oh, well done!!! What an achievement!!!” A second wrote: “So well deserved” with a red love heart emoji.
